beauty

Natalia Vodianova. she's always been my favorite model. Probably because she looks like a child....an extremely beautiful child. I don't know why but something about her face reminds me of Bjork. They both have this look in their eyes, like they are 6 years old, up to something silly...

planning ahead...

I forgot to mention in the last post that I had a semi-major star sighting. Standing behind me on line to enter the Chanel Mobile Art was the one-and-only Philip Lim! I wanted to sneak a photo, but it would have been too creepy. He was with his friends and I didnt want to bother him. Anyway, seeing him reminded me to post these adorable pictures. When I have kids, I want them to dress like this. Hunter boots and all....

so cute!! I can't take it.... heres a few more...

my kids will either end up like that.... or this...

my trip to the moon

This past week, i went to the Chanel Mobile Art, which was amazing. At times it was a little too pretentious and serious for me, but overall it was an exhibit of a lifetime. I wanted to take pictures, but the security there was a little crazy, not to mention dressed in head-to-toe Chanel. Once we entered the billion dollar pod, we were escorted to a waiting area and greeted by a very soft-spoken foreign woman who gently placed Chanel headsets over our ears. I really felt like I was on my way to the moon, or in some strange line for a robotic operation. It reminded me a lot of the movie CQ. After the headsets were on, a weird little voice came through and directed us through the entire exhibit. We weren't allowed to leave one room without the guidance of the little voice telling us where to go. That little voice was Jeanne Moreau and after a while, it got kind of annoying.

Overall, the Chanel Mobile Art was really cool. But the more I think of it, the more it really reminds me of CQ......

mushrooms and makeup

So this morning i was flipping through the latest issue of Time Out New York and I came across a little gem. A gem named Mark Borthwick. The article describes Mark's early years as "teenage afternoons doing makeup, picking psychedelic mushrooms in the forest and cooking them into treats for friends". But don't be fooled by the typical drug-induced-teenage-artist-adolescence...Mark's no starving artist......he's married to Maria Cornejo! Her resort 2009 collection gives me the same feeling i get when I see her hubby's photos. Just by looking at her website, you can totally see how his artist's eye rubbed off on her. Together they collaborated on projects in and out of the fashion industry. He's also friends with my new found love, Hisham Bharoocha. I cannot wait for his book Not In Fashion that follows his career and features more than 200 of his magical photographs and personal journal entries......I'll add that one to my wish-list.
